The pomegranate is one of the seven species in which the Land of Israel was blessed. The fruit of the pomegranate, which contains hundreds of red and juicy seeds, was very required in antiquity time, thanks to the fruit's durability for a long time (several months), as well as to the medicinal properties that it attributed to it.

In recent years, demand for pomegranate fruit and its products has increased, due to studies that have established its medical value.

Medical studies have found that pomegranate has a high concentration of antioxidants, which may prevent or delay the development of cancer cells. It was found that the concentration of antioxidants in the pomegranate is even higher than red wine.
